Kite Festival, McCarren Park

We headed toward the kite festival this afternoon hoping to fly a kite. The weather was perfect, wind! We got our kite and up it went! All was well, but boy it's a lot of work keeping the kite up and trying not to get crossed with other strings. Sort of like fishing in a fishing derby. You have to feel and ride the wind, reminds me of surfing.
That's our kite in the middle, the blue spec with the red tail.
Kites peppering the afternoon sky.
Time for a break and ices. Looks like the colors match our kite.
The walk home with Manhattan in the distance. We spotted Chrystler building (next to the water tower) and Empire State across the river.
This stretch is still industrial. Love the old building fronts.
