Cracker Barrel

We always stop at Cracker Barrel on long road trips and this is the best thing to do while waiting for the food to come. I was just reading Anne Ruthmann's wonderful blog, and she posted the big secret on how to win. We never win! Check it out...Solved the Peg & Hole Game!

Gingerbread House

Better late than never, we finally did it! Not perfect, but fun! (See previous post in the bag).
I'm amazed, it looks pretty good, and the icing is drying and doing it's job and sticking!

Chinese Lion and glow in the dark Dragon

The Y had family night, and tonite was a special treat for Chinese New Year. A glow in the dark Dragon and a Lion, complete with drums!

The Lion was quite a good dancer.

The Dragon head looked mild in the light...

but when the lights went out, it became a whirring dancing beast!

The finale with Lion and Dragon dancing together!

Dragon and Lion part 2

The lights came on, the glow in the dark dragon stood still, and the kids got to hold the poles and march the big scary dragon around the gym.

Our little friend was so excited, she wore herself out and slept through the encore, loud drums and all!

Polaroid Transfer Revisited

It's fun getting inspired by other photographers. I saw a great bookcover by Gjerme and remembered a diner shot of my own. This is one of my favorite polaroid transfers which was aquired as part of Polaroid's Artist Collection, and posted on their website. I wrote about Polaroid Transfers earlier, here's a link back to the blog post here. I also hand color some of my Polaroid Transfers with water color paint.

2008- looking back 5 years

I was just thinking, a lot has happened in my life in the last 5 years. Thinking about new website, and all this blogging. I have been a photographer for years, but it is only lately I have gone digital. It has been a transition from a point and shoot 2 mp camera in 2003 to finally my full website going up shortly. That is the work stuff, but the really big things that happened, was I became a parent, and an orphan. My son was born in 2003 and my 2nd parent died in 2004.
Here is the photo I made for my Dad when he was in the hospital to go on his medical notebook. It is all his grandchildren, and his wife (in the bottom right corner). My son was about 6 months old as he was held by his grandfather in the middle. I love this collage and miss my Dad.
It is fun to see my nieces and nephews so much younger.

Kaatskill Life

I found it! The backyard in Margaretville. Back cover of Kaatskill Life Magazine
Love the Catskills and miss it up there. It is always the mountains or the ocean. Want to have both in my life.

Firefly

Ok, I'm going to have some fun here. Got a new website template and thinking about what to put on it. Meanwhile figured I'ld blog a few old things while I'm working on it. Digging through published stuff, actually looking for a chair in the snow on the back of Kaatskill Life to keep with the winter theme. Couldn't find it, but found this:

part of back

Here's the byline...people get possessed by alien, have best orgasm of life and then die. The art department at Avon Books had an idea for a pose and wanted a very contrasty image. The model was from a sports modeling agency that had done some bodybuilding and had a little more flesh on her than the regular fashion models. I experimented with paper negatives, exposing on paper, then using paper as neg and doing it all again to lose detail. I practiced printing myself to get it right and then had Lisa of APM Darkrooms do the actual print for the bookcover. Avon's art dept colorized it back in the very early days of photoshop. Voila!

Holiday Decorations

Trying to blog more, slow in editing so here's one ready to go...I know it's time to take them down now, but love the sparkle twinkling in the dark winter nights and days

Winter in Brooklyn

Been inspired with Midwestern pictures of winter. Here's one from
around the corner back when I was still shooting black and white film.
